About Strangers
One-on-one text chat with a random stranger, in your browser. Press Start, say hi, and press Next whenever you like.
The rules
- You must be 18 or older, and not from the United States.
- No sexual messages or requests, including asking for photos.
- No insults, harassment, threats or hate.
- No spam, ads or links to other services.
- Don't share anyone's personal details, including your own.
- If someone seems to be under 18, leave and tap Report.
How the protection works
Two small AI models run inside your browser and read every message the stranger sends you, before you see it, one after the other, along with a short list of phrases they miss. If any of them flags a message:
- You see "Message hidden". You can choose Show message to read it, then Hide message to hide it again.
- The AI flags the sender. You can also use Report message or the Report button.
- Three distinct flags or reports within a rolling 24 hours trigger a 7-day ban. Repeating a report of the same message does not add another strike.
Your own messages go out as soon as you send them; it's the other person's device that checks them. The models work best in English and can make mistakes, so tap Report for anything they miss. Report also ends the chat. Revealing a message does not remove its flag.
Privacy policy
Last updated: 8 October 2026
Tukka operates Strangers at strangers.tukka.dev. This policy explains how we handle information when you visit the site or use the chat. For privacy questions, requests or complaints, email contact[at]tukka[dot]dev.
- Chat messages. Messages pass through our server to reach your chat partner. The connection uses encryption in transit, but chat is not end-to-end encrypted. Your partner receives your messages, and can copy or share them. We do not give your IP address to your partner. Ordinary messages are held temporarily in connection memory and are not saved to our database.
- Safety records. AI-flagged and manually reported messages, timestamps, sender browser IDs and moderation details are kept indefinitely for moderation and improving safety, unless deletion is required by law.
- Reports and bans. To apply the ban rule, we store the reported person's IP address and browser ID, the reporter's IP address and the report time. IPv6 addresses are reduced to their network prefix. Reports expire after 24 hours and bans after 7 days; expired records are removed during hourly cleanup. Three distinct AI flags or manual reports in the last 24 hours trigger a 7-day ban. IP-based bans may affect people sharing an internet connection.
- Browser storage. Local storage holds a random browser ID for moderation and bans, and a separate random ID for analytics. IndexedDB caches the safety models, their vocabularies and runtime files so later visits can reuse them. These cached files contain no chat history. Clearing site data removes these IDs and cached files, but does not remove server records or an IP-based ban. Your browser may also clear cached files when space is limited.
- Analytics. Our own analytics counts visits using a random ID, page address, referring site, country derived from the IP address, and browser, operating system and device type. Analytics records are kept for 40 days and then removed by scheduled cleanup. We do not store the IP address in analytics records. There are no ads or third-party advertising trackers.
- Automated checks. Safety models run on your device. Messages are not sent to an external AI service for analysis. The browser sends flag information to our server so we can apply the moderation rule. Automated checks can miss harmful content and flag harmless content.
- Service providers and disclosure. Our chat server is hosted in France. Cloudflare delivers and protects the site and connections. Infrastructure providers may process network and request information to run and secure their services, including in other countries. Access to safety records is restricted to running and moderating the service. We do not sell personal information or share it for advertising. We may disclose information when required by law or necessary to address abuse, protect safety or establish or defend legal claims.
- Your choices and rights. You can leave a chat or stop using Strangers at any time. Do not send personal or sensitive information. Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion or restriction, object to processing, or withdraw consent where processing relies on it. Email us with your browser ID, if available, and enough detail to identify the record. We may need to verify your request, and some records may need to be retained where the law permits or requires it. You may also complain to the relevant data protection authority. Contact messages are used to handle your request.
- Adults only. Strangers is for people aged 18 or older and is not available to people from the United States. We do not knowingly offer the service to children. If you believe a child is using it, report them and contact us so we can investigate and handle their information appropriately.
- Changes. We will update this page and its date when our practices change. Material changes will be brought to your attention before they apply where required. This policy describes Strangers; other Tukka products may have their own policies.
Terms of use
Last updated: 7 October 2026
These terms govern your use of Strangers, operated by Tukka. By starting a chat, you agree to these terms and confirm that you have read the privacy policy above. Email contact[at]tukka[dot]dev about the service, a report or a ban.
- Eligibility. You must be at least 18 and not from the United States. Do not use the service if you do not meet these requirements. No account or subscription is required.
- Conduct. Follow the rules above. Do not send sexual content, harassment, threats, hate, spam, advertising, unlawful content or anyone's personal information. Do not impersonate others, exploit minors, make knowingly false reports, bypass bans, disrupt the service or use bots to send messages.
- Your messages and safety. You are responsible for what you send and must have the right to share it. You permit Tukka to transmit your messages and handle them as described in the privacy policy. Other users are strangers; we do not verify their identity or age. Do not send money, contact details or sensitive information. Leave or report a chat that makes you uncomfortable.
- Moderation and bans. Automated checks hide messages they flag. You may choose Show message to read one at your discretion. AI flags and manual reports both count toward the same rule: three distinct flagged or reported messages within a rolling 24 hours result in a 7-day ban. A report of a chat without messages also counts; duplicate reports of the same message count once. Bans apply to the browser ID and internet address. Further flags during an active ban do not extend it. There is no escalating ban schedule. If you believe a ban is mistaken, email us with your browser ID and ban end time.
- Availability. Strangers is currently free and provided as available. We may change, interrupt or discontinue it. We do not guarantee a match, uninterrupted access, accurate moderation or that other users will follow the rules. Any future paid features will have their price and conditions shown before you choose them.
- Limits of responsibility. To the extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided without warranties and Tukka is not responsible for other users' conduct or indirect losses arising from use of the service. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded or limits your mandatory consumer rights.
- Ending use. You can stop at any time using Stop or by closing the page. Leaving a chat does not reverse an existing report or ban. These terms do not transfer ownership of your messages to Tukka.
- Changes and applicable law. We may revise these terms and update the date above. Material changes will be brought to your attention where required. Applicable mandatory laws and rights continue to apply. If part of these terms is unenforceable, the remaining terms still apply.
